We say it all the time, but it is worth mentioning again. TEENVIEW Magazine is a publication that offers a platform for young people to grow their skills and showcase their talent. This summer we were able to expand the TEENVIEW experience to a few students attending the Wichita Prep Upward Bound Program. For a little more than four weeks, the students came to our office and learned about TV Production. In fact, they themselves produced a future television show that is scheduled to air on MyTV July 18th at 11:30am.
The students were able to learn lighting techniques, camera functions, how to use a Green Screen, editing, and Closed Captioning. Many of the participating students had minimal if any experience in this field. Here is what a few students had to say about the experience:
Kelly: My favorite part about this experience is having the chance to lean how to use equipment that people use in movie sets. It was fun and I want to know more about using cameras, lighting, editing and sound.
Karen: My favorite part of the experience was to be able to film in a place like the film studio. I have seen film studios in movies before and I actually got to have the experience!
Alondra: My favorite part of the Mindfire experience was the hands-on activities; using the boom microphone.
Elizabeth: I liked when we were recording because we got to laugh and have fun.
Monica: My favorite part about this experience was working the cameras and lighting. I’m happy to be apart of the experience, it’s a once in a life time experience.
TEENVIEW is constantly looking to empower young people to reach their full potential. Working with Wichita Upward Bound gave us another opportunity to fulfill our purpose.
