Life in your Junior and Senior Years is said to be “the best period a person could experience”. As much as it is beautiful, for most of us, it is stressful; a time full of worries. One of the most important steps during these years is going to college. Are you a senior having a hard time applying for college? Don’t worry, you are definitely not alone! The TEENVIEW Magazine Team is here to help you and give you some useful advice.
Initial Steps in Preparing for College:
1. Exploration – It is very important to start exploring early. Find out what “Major” or area of study is the best for you. Search by all types like: sports, locations, activities, and cost. Exploring these factors will help you to find the university that is the most affordable and best fit for you.
2. Do Not Procrastinate! – This is a big one! You should definitely start applying on time. Find out the application deadlines of the college to which you want to apply and the ACT/SAT test dates as well. If you miss out on the opportunity for “early consideration”, there is still the regular acceptance timeframe, and then of course, the “late consideration” phase for all the “stragglers”. But don’t leave the job that you can do today, for tomorrow!
3. Grants – Our country is most known for giving students an opportunity to study by investing a tremendous amount of money in financial aid and grants. It doesn’t hurt to apply for financial aid and find out whether or not you are eligible. In addition, high scores on ACT/SAT exams help you earn academic grants. Moreover, it is important to try to be as successful as you can be in high school, since it’s one of the conditions to earn a scholarship. Other than academic grants, there are many different types of scholarships like: Sports, Creative Arts, Gender-based, and more. The choice is yours, what will be for you. Choose to do something and take a step on your path toward higher education. Don’t miss out, the time is NOW!
